Exploring three of the most dreamy destinations in Europe to host a wedding

A destination wedding is a dream for many couples, with visions of better weather and idyllic scenery gracing their big day. But you needn’t traverse the globe to find a picturesque spot; Europe has everything you need. From tropical beaches on the edge of glistening, turquoise oceans to romantic cities with five-star venues and attractions, there’s a perfect wedding destination for everyone somewhere in this collection of 44 unique countries.

Ahead, we explore what your wedding would look like in three of the most dreamy destinations across Europe.

Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast can be found on the southern coast of Italy, where quaint towns are nestled against rugged cliffs, and sandy beaches fade seamlessly into crystalline waters. Less popular than Tuscany, but equally (if not more) beautiful, Amalfi is the perfect destination for a wedding with an intimate, elegant vibe.

Whilst the coast is blessed with warm weather year-round, you are best to book your wedding out of the peak season, which runs from June to August. This is mainly due to the fact that the Amalfi Coast is not a large place, and so accommodation may be scarce in the busier months. Plus, out of season, you can enjoy wide-open sands and fewer tourists.

Santorini

As one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea, the Greek paradise of Santorini is teeming with romantic scenery and mesmerising vistas. The island was formed after a volcanic eruption many years ago, creating dramatic cliffs and a caldera that has since become home to multiple stunning villages. The whitewashed walls and meandering staircases make wonderful backdrops for your wedding photographs, and the multiple infinity pools dotted throughout are the perfect place to relax and soak up the view when all is said and done.

To ensure your wedding planning goes as smoothly as possible, book a wedding planner with knowledge and experience of the island of Santorini. You can use planners from your home country or those from the island itself, but be wary of those who refuse to allow you to use suppliers who aren’t on their recommendations list, as you may end up stuck with extortionate prices.

Paris

Paris has long been considered the ‘City of Love’, and it’s evident throughout the twists and turns of this magnificent metropolis. Whilst a ceremony in Paris will only be symbolic, due to the difficult legalities for non-citizens, you are sure to have a wedding worth remembering in this unforgettable landscape.

With iconic backdrops such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Sacre Coeur, and the intricate architecture of the Latin Quarter, Paris is an ideal destination for any couple wanting a destination wedding with a historic, classically romantic feel. There are also plenty of stunning gardens, parks and greenlands throughout the city for an outdoor ceremony that’s sure to bring the ‘wow’ factor to your guests.

Plan well in advance

Destination weddings are popular, and especially in more rural areas, you may find that venues and accommodations get booked up years in advance. Be sure to leave yourselves plenty of time to fine-tune the details and work with an experienced wedding planner to ensure all of your dreams come true.
