A Heartfelt Surprise Proposal at The Don CeSar

Wow, I really love surprise proposals. The anticipation and emotions are off the charts! Mike's proposal to Cassidy at The Don CeSar was no exception. It was a beautifully orchestrated moment that I was lucky enough to capture as one of Tampa’s wedding photographers.

Mike meticulously planned out the surprise, calling me about a month before the big day, bursting with excitement. He and Cassidy flew in from Atlanta for what she thought was a belated birthday weekend celebration in St. Pete Beach. As soon as they arrived, the weather took an unexpected turn, and it began raining. So, they decided to take a nap in their room. But while Cassidy rested, Mike couldn’t sleep. He later shared that his heart was pounding so loudly, he feared Cassidy would hear it!

When it was time to get ready for dinner, I was already in the courtyard, hiding in the bushes, waiting for the perfect moment. Mike had scored a room with a view of the courtyard, and he could even see my hideout spot. As they prepared to come down, Mike encouraged Cassidy to change into a black outfit that matched his, instead of the brown she was initially wearing. He texted me to let me know there would be a 15-minute delay for the wardrobe change, and even I started to get nervous with anticipation, wondering when they would finally arrive!

Finally, I got the text: "On our way down!" But just as I thought the moment had arrived, a different couple came down the stairs! They were celebrating their four-year wedding anniversary and asked me to take their photo. I gladly obliged and then had a little fun by asking them to pretend I was taking more pictures of them to throw Cassidy even further off track.

As Mike and Cassidy made their way down the stairs, Mike saw the other couple with me and briefly panicked, thinking I was busy! He told Cassidy he needed to use the restroom, leaving her even more confused as she wondered if he was feeling okay. After collecting himself, they made their way down the stairs once again. This time, Mike had his hand in his pocket the entire time, holding the ring box.

Finally, they reached the bottom of the stairs, and Mike dropped to one knee. Cassidy was completely surprised, and her reaction was priceless! She was so elated and confused, exclaiming, "What? Oh my gosh, are you kidding me?" Tears of joy flowed as she said yes, and the couple hugged and kissed, with everyone in the courtyard cheering them on. Congratulations, Cassidy and Mike!
