The Tampa Yacht & Country Club is dedicated to providing a wide variety of activities for its members. The Club recognizes the importance that an appreciation for and mastery of any sport can play in one’s life, so a strong emphasis is placed on the athletic development of Member children. A number of programs, lessons and clinics are available year round to teach children tennis, swimming, sailing, equestrian and fitness. Skilled professionals are on staff to make learning sports both fun and rewarding.
The Club has several "Clubs Within The Club" specialized to meet the needs of our members. These groups include Wine Society, "Great Wave" Swim Team, Water Aerobics, Mainsheet Mamas, Youth Sailing Team, Bridge Club, Suncoast Tennis League, Interbay Tennis League, Senior Tennis League and USTA Tennis League.
The Club has a rich history of Tennis, dating back to 1961 when the first courts were built. The nine tennis courts are surrounded by 100 year old grand oaks which creates a serene atmosphere in an environment ideal for a total tennis enjoyment. Tennis Industry's Court-of the-Year Winner and Outstanding Tennis Facility by US Court and Track Builders Association. Tennis activity at TYCC ranks as one of the busiest in the country with a weekly program of four USTA teams, two local ladies leagues Suncoast and Interbay, two nightly men's leagues and tennis playing by many of our active members. The tennis program is under the the Directorship of Gewan Maharaj and a supporting cast of certified USPTA tennis professionals.
The Tampa Yacht & Country Club Youth Sailing program works to support the development of youth sailors ages 8 - 15 years through recreational sailing, sailboat racing and other marine pursuits. In addition to that, we strongly support advancing sailors' sportsmanship, seamanship and navigational skills and fostering a lifelong passion for sailing.
The Tampa Yacht & Country Club Swimming Team was originally established in 1962. The program was inactive from 1967 to 1974, when it was re-established with some 30 swimmers. Today's team boasts more than 160 members ages 6 to 18 years old. The club is a charter member of the U.S. Private Club League and is the reigning League Champion.
