Kim and Mike met in person on April 12, 2015 at Panera Bread in Seminole after communicating via email and phone. Instant attraction for both of them! They enjoyed a wonderful conversation that flew by. Mike and Kim were in romantic Charleston, SC for Mike and his twin brother Bill's 60th birthday. Mike told Kim there that he wanted to marry her, and that he wanted them both to be 60 when they got married. Mike is 2 months younger than Kim, so they had to strategically select a wedding date before Kim turned 61! Official proposal came one month later with a beautiful ring.
Kim is a warm, honest, funny, beautiful person who shines light on Mike’s life every day. Kim loves Mike's compassion, and how he genuinely cares about people. He is a terrific person (a "mensch"), a no nonsense kind of guy, and you can always count on his honesty and sincerity. Kim can go anywhere with him and have fun, and just being in the same room with him feels comfortable and soothing. When the weather is nice, they enjoy cycling together on the Pinellas Trail, or in the neighborhood. The Florida Orchestra, rock concerts, art shows, museums, travel in the US and abroad, going to great restaurants, movies, going to the gym together, and just hanging out together at home even if they are each doing their own thing, are many things that they enjoy.
They had a lovely, semi-traditional Jewish wedding ceremony (chuppah, signing Ketubah, breaking the glass). This is the last wedding they are ever going to have, and they enjoyed every moment to the absolute fullest and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together!
Some of the most special moments include when Kim's sons walked her down the aisle, and when Mike and Kim joined together under the chuppah and looked into each other's eyes, smiling at one another as they said "we do". During the reception, everyone was up dancing the Hora, and enjoying toasts. Mike made a short but sweet speech thanking all of their guests for coming to our wedding. And everyone enjoyed a slice of a piece of delicious coconut cake. The Vinoy was able to get the secret recipe from one of Kim and Mike’s favorite restaurants, The Peninsula Grill in Charleston, SC.
Mike and Kim found each other at 57, and at 60 have chosen to make the ultimate commitment. They are what they were both looking for in the remaining chapters of their lives, and feel so lucky to have found that! They enjoy downtown St. Petersburg. The Vinoy is a beautiful historic landmark that has charm and warmth, a perfect place for an intimate outdoor wedding in March. They wanted a wedding that reflected who they are....down to earth and not pretentious or ostentatious. They specified “semi-casual" as the attire for their wedding so people could feel comfortable and not too hot having to wear jackets or ties outside. This created the perfect informal and relaxed atmosphere, but with style and grace. Guests were happy, grateful to be present and had so much fun and will remember this day for many years to come
