Tampa Wedding Photographers Capture Magical Moments at University of Tampa

Love stories have a way of finding their perfect chapter—and for MaryJane and Tony, their chapter began years ago and finally found its romantic spark right here in Tampa. As seasoned Tampa wedding photographers, we were honored to be a part of this incredible couple’s journey, capturing their engagement session at one of our favorite scenic spots: the historic and picturesque University of Tampa, a gem nestled right along the Tampa Riverwalk.

Though the original plan included photos at Curtis Hixon Park’s iconic fountain, a surprise event blocked off access that day. But in true photographer fashion, we pivoted! The nearby University of Tampa gave us stunning backdrops with views of the downtown skyline, classic architecture, and even a charming fountain of its own. It was the perfect plan B—and dare we say, it turned out beautifully.

From Friendship to Forever

MaryJane and Tony’s love story is truly one for the books. They first met through a mutual friend in 2007, bonding over music and shared laughs during Tony’s visits home from his Air Force assignments. Though they lived separate lives for years, their friendship remained strong. After Tony retired and returned to Florida, a simple Facebook message in 2021 led to a reunion—and this time, the timing was finally right. They made it official that May and never looked back.

A Tampa Riverwalk Proposal to Remember

On a crisp November night in 2024, Tony recreated their first date along the Tampa Riverwalk, adding an unforgettable twist. With the help of a photographer posing as someone offering Christmas tree snapshots, Tony surprised MaryJane with a proposal captured on video. A dreamy holiday scene, a heartfelt question, and a beautiful “yes”—what more could you ask for?

MJ shared: “Tony is my teammate, my partner, and the person who makes every day brighter. From his incredible humor to his musical talent, he’s thoughtful, passionate, and always makes me feel loved. I couldn’t be luckier.”

We chose to stay near the University of Tampa to maximize golden-hour light and ensure the couple had stunning, frame-worthy images.

From the very first few frames, it was clear: Brittany and Houston just… fit. ❤️

Their connection is effortless — full of quiet glances, shared laughter, and the kind of comfort that comes from knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. We met at Philippe Park for their engagement session, a favorite spot for engagement session photography in Tampa Florida, with its winding trails, sweeping water views, and timeless oak trees. It was the perfect backdrop for this sweet, adventurous couple.

Both Brittany and Houston work in the healthcare field, and you can instantly feel their calming, compassionate energy. They love spending time on the water — fishing, kayaking, paddle boating — and traveling together any chance they get. There’s something really special about couples who not only love each other, but also love doing life together.

I kept the session relaxed and candid, leaning into a photojournalistic photography style to capture their natural dynamic. One of my favorite moments was when they walked together near the water’s edge, lost in conversation, completely unaware of the camera — just two people deeply connected and fully present with one another.

They’ll be tying the knot at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach in 2026, and I already can’t wait for their big day. If this session was any preview, it’s going to be a wedding full of joy, light, and the kind of love that’s beautiful in its simplicity.
