Katie and Cody celebrated their one-year anniversary as girlfriend and boyfriend with a portrait session at Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach. Despite the challenging weather forecast, with alerts and winds up to 45 MPH, and a 100% chance of rain, this couple was determined to capture their special moments. It was the only day they were available, so I made some quick calls to secure an indoor location. Lindsey at the Hyatt came through, and the rain miraculously stopped, allowing us to venture onto the beach.
The weather lent a dramatic backdrop with gray skies and rough seas, perfectly complementing the moody atmosphere we aimed for. We took advantage of the mix of natural light and muted colors to create stunning images. Moving indoors, we utilized the Belleair Room, capturing elegant portraits amidst the mirror and bubble chandeliers. The driftwood chandelier and grand staircase provided additional striking settings.
With a quick outfit change, we hurried back to the beach, just in time for post-sunset photos with hints of pink in the sky. We incorporated off-camera lighting for some dynamic shots. While many images were intentionally blurred to capture movement and spontaneity, the essence of the day was beautifully preserved.
